Dear Mr. Lenhardt,

It’s been such a long time, and you have come to mind on so many occasions. I reflect very often on how much you and your team helped me when I was in a situation that had come entirely out of the blue to completely overwhelm me. The diagnosis of ovarian cancer, with such an unpredictably lengthy and complex operation, and the subsequent weakening it causes creates a huge challenge. You showed me a true willingness to help, as if had been a friend, which touched me deeply. At that time, when I was in a situation involving a great deal of pain and I needed real support, people like you are genuinely helpful and healing, and take a great load away. Many, many thanks! I will also never forget how, despite your own accident, you came to me to help!

I am delighted to be able to tell you that, even to the surprise of all the doctors, I’m now very well. The practically inevitable after-effects from taking paclitaxel and carboplatin are getting better.

Particularly in my hands, the feeling of numbness and the pains I had in my joints and tendons have almost completely disappeared. I put this miraculous improvement down to using your cooling glove-type hand cuffs. I often think back to the chemotherapy sessions when I was in treatment, which would go on for up to 8 hours, and how they would be so much more tolerable because I was now able to read. Before using this treatment, reading would have been unthinkable if I was using the ice packs that were offered to me at the clinic. Now I hope that, with time, I’ll regain the sensitivity that I previously had in my feet.

Thank you once again, Mr. Lenhardt, to you, your daughter and your staff!

Waldtraud W. underwent chemotherapy 6 years ago and has suffered from grade-3 polyneuropathy since. She couldn’t bear to wear shoes, or even have a duvet cover her feet. For the past 3 months she has been using a ChemoCare device for her feet.

I am extremely satisfied with the cooling treatment with Hilotherm. I use the device 1-2 times per day for approx. 20-30 minutes and no longer experience any pain in my toes or feet since using it. It is just wonderful to be able to walk again without any pain and wear normal shoes again. I have nothing but praise for the device and would recommend it to everyone.”

“All I can say is this: Many, many thanks to Hilotherm!

Thanks to the Hilotherm Homecare device, I didn’t suffer from any significant swelling of the face following very extensive dental surgery to remove all of my remaining teeth and have several implants set. There were just some initial signs of swelling that almost completely disappeared by the second day following the surgery. I enjoyed using this cooling method. No bruising, despite taking blood-thinning medication, and following such an invasive procedure. From experience I can say that, despite using ice packs, cheeks swell up more due to breaks in the application of the cold when compared to using the cooling supplied by the Hilotherm Homecare device. When applying cold with ice packs, the temperature is reduced and then raises again due to the ice melting (or cooling gel warming up). This makes it more difficult to combat swelling. A particular issue is that you don’t have enough hands, as both sides of the jaw as well as upper and lower lip areas require cooling. With the Hilotherm device and the right face mask I could apply a constant and uniformly cool temperature and keep my hands free.

It is even possible to lie down and rest with the cooling treatment still being applied. As I did not want to purchase a device, I could rent one and then return it after using it for a shorter period.

I would highly recommend this device for its cooling application as it really has helped me a great deal.”

“At the start of 2006, I suffered a comminuted fracture of the tibia and fibula with the joint also being affected. Several operations, including a realignment osteotomy, then followed over the course of the next three years. The movement in the joint, however, was still limited. Now, a severe form of activated post-traumatic secondary arthritis of the talocrural joint has developed, as well as swelling and a suspected grade-1 CPRS. As a result of these conditions, I suffer from inflammation and pain for which I have to take regular pain medication. The complaints worsen following physical activity: for example, after standing for longer periods my lower leg becomes severely swollen. It helps when I raise and apply cold to the affected area; unfortunately, if the cool applied is too extreme, it has a negative effect on my already limited lymphatic drainage. I have had very positive experiences using Hilotherapy. Using the system on a regular basis, I have been able to reduce pain levels – a truly fantastic feeling. Another positive point was that swelling also went down with each application. The device is very easy-to-use and to clean. It’s great that the temperature is kept constant, even over longer time periods.”

“Each and every one of us in our family has benefited from our Hilotherapy device already. Apart from using it for small day-to-day aches and pains, we have applied it more specifically in the case of the following injuries/procedures: wisdom tooth extractions, syndesmosis ankle ligament surgery, dislocated thumb, ankle ligament rupture, joint capsule separation in thumb. It really can’t even remotely be compared to the traditional methods of cold application with ice or gel packs!”

“We originally decided to get a Hilotherapy device for treatment of my knee arthritis at home. Since then, however, it has really become an indispensable “family member”. We still, of course, use the device for my knee osteoarthritis, where it helps me a great deal to stay pain-free and keep playing active sports, getting me back on my feet whenever I have overstressed my joints. We have found further applications for headaches, sprains and bruises, or even after insect bites or burns. Cooling injuries with ice or frozen gel – something that I also used to do – doesn’t even come close to the effectiveness of Hilotherapy.”

“My daughter fell out of a bunk bed when she was 4 years old. As surgery was only possible the following morning, I made sure to keep her jaw cool for the entire night. She had no swelling and didn’t require any pain killers, all thanks to Hilotherapy. As a family with three daughters, we’ve had plenty of opportunities to put Hilotherapy to good use. We can only hope to never be without our Hilotherapy device again!”
